This is the website of the Aberdeen University Computer Science Society.
We are a departmental society at the University of Aberdeen affiliated with the Aberdeen University Students' Association. We hold regular meet-ups where we discuss computer things, do computer things, and watch others do computer things.
We also operate a gophersite at gopher://aucs.co/.
Anyone that is a member of the Students' Association is welcome to join us. Whether your interests are in hardware, operating systems, programming, robotics or any other aspect, there'll be something to interest you. Joining AUCS will not only sharpen your coding skills, it will give you knowledge you can't learn in lectures; we deal with non-mainstream operating systems, digital freedoms and rights, robotics, programming style and computer security.
Even if you're not interested in joining our society, we may still have something to offer you. We run a drop-in helpdesk in Meston building every Wednesday afternoon to help you with problems that DIT are unable to help you with. It's possible that DIT will refer you to us if you have problems regarding non-mainstream operating systems and hardware faults. We can also help you install the software you'll need for your course on your personal machine.
We also provide services to other societies at the University of Aberdeen from small pieces of advice to fully managing their website. Currently we host websites for a couple of societies. We're always looking for new and interesting collaborations so if you have an idea, contact us and we'll see if we can work with you to make it happen.
